DESIGNER DIGS: Denise Davies’ Fun House

The writing is literally on her wall, Denise Davies, principle and founder of D2 Interieurs, loves to have fun, both in her design work and her life. She gave us a tour of her favorite room in her Weston home - the living room, of course!

When she bought the 1980s era house in 2007, it needed everything. She wasn’t even a designer yet. As her renovations and design work in the home evolved, she evolved into her new career as an Interior Designer, which has turned into a thriving and celebrated business and her life’s passion.

One of her favorite details (and ours): The wallpapered ceiling! The wallpaper is designed by Norwalk-based maker Flat Vernacular. Photos by Jane Beiles.

The fun continues outside, check out Davies’ stunning and very zen patio. Here, she achieved her goal: creating a laid-back feeling with a modern vibe. Davies explains her inspiration:  “Since I live in a house that was built in the 1929, I wanted to keep an old world feel but modernize it. It is a Ying & Yang between the modern and keeping true to the Connecticut landscape.”

Davies used custom cement poured pavers with river rock for her patio, a nice balance of hard and soft, structured but loose. Even the furniture is an eclectic mix. If you love the look, you can shop it here!

Behind the hot-tub she created a living wall with plants and an assortment of pots.
