Sade Strehlke Perfects the Art of Maximalist / Minimalist Style

Sade Strehlke is one of the most fabulous young mommas in Connecticut and next up in our Style Profile series on Fashion Inspired Decor. The NYC-bred, CT transplant is renovating and styling her family's new home, one room at a time.

Before working at Shape.com as an editor and then catapulting to Editor-in-Chief of www.popsugar.com, Sade started out as a fashion blogger. She’s built her own wardrobe based on layers, patterns, and textures, “but I also edit carefully,” she admits.

Sade describes her style as “maximalist/minimalist!” This translates into a home that is filled with color, rich textiles, and tons of florals layered over neutral classic pieces. Overflowing faux florals from www.mybloomist.com in a decadent variety of vessels tie the whole look together. Her three young kids rule the roost, however, and no space is off limits for toys and playtime.

Downstairs in the main family space, Sade wanted a blue piano for her blue family room, so she googled “blue pianos” and found www.carusopianos.com in New London, CT. They specialize in painting Steinway’s and Yamahas in colors, and they delivered on this special request. A large-scale geometric painting in “ebony and ivory” by @aos_nyc is the perfect backdrop.
