Q&A

DP: Your passion for design is contagious. Tell us more about your sweet spot?

Pinals: My superpower is color and using it to transform a space. Did you know that every decision you make for your home is a color decision? I help my clients make the right choices regarding color by determining neutral undertones and ensuring that the materials, finishes, and colors chosen will work together to create a cohesive palette.

DP: When did you develop an interest in design, and what were you doing before this?

Pinals: Growing up, my parents built a house in Woodstock, NY, and they were always taking me to these unique homes, galleries, shops, and craft shows in the area. I was always so interested in the design process and connecting with the artists we met, and I have always loved to draw and create. In college, I studied communication design and went on to a career in the graphic arts; book and magazine publishing, visual branding, promotional design, and I also owned a stationery business.

DP: Where did you build your skills?

Pinals: At a crossroads in my decades-long career as a graphic designer/art director, I took a leap and merged my passion for color and interiors with my creative background. To start, I studied around the clock to become both a Certified Interior Designer (Parsons University) and Certified Color Consultant (Maria Killam Color Academy) while immersing myself in every learning opportunity available. I then began to offer interior styling and color consulting services. I am so grateful for each opportunity to guide my clients as they update their surroundings and create their happy place.
