SNOOP: An Artist At Home, Peter Mendelson, Fine Art Photographer

Ever wondered what a fine art photographer hangs on their own walls?

We recently had the chance to explore the charming Weston, CT home of Peter Mendelson, a self-taught photographer known for his vibrant coastal scenes, urban architecture, and playful street photography. Peter has an eye for detail and color, and his walls showcase an array of his own fine art photography, offering visitors a vibrant look into his unique perspective.

Peter’s work has been the subject of numerous gallery shows and his fine art photography prints can be found in the collections of both private photography enthusiasts and professional collectors alike.

Fun fact: Before launching his full-time photography career in 2023, Peter practiced law in NYC, where he developed a passion for architecture and street photography and refined his artistic vision through various photographic workshops and trips throughout the U.S. and abroad.

These experiences shaped his artistic vision and sparked his transition from law to the world of fine art photography.

Peter’s photographs examine those things that are often overlooked, but which reward their viewers when given a second, deeper look. A ferris wheel becomes a geometric color study, a tire track in snow takes on the characteristics of a charcoal drawing…The result is an extensive body of striking compositions that are available as limited edition photographic prints.

His series called “Winter’s Canvas” was taken above parking lots in Compo Beach and Jennings Beach in snow.

If you’re interested in seeing Peter’s work in person, check it out at Sorelle Gallery in Westport, or contact Peter directly to see more of his work at his home gallery in Weston.
